Hidden bodies selectable?

Hidden bodies selectable?

Hidden bodies selectable?

(OP)
I'm having a weird one on my laptop (Dell XPS 17, Win 7, 64 bit, SW11).  I'm working on a multibdy part with several solid bodies and several surface bodies.  In order to isolate a specific body, I hide the others to avoid clutter.  The issue I'm having is that even when bodies are hidden I can't select through them.  I can't see the actual geometry, but somehow hidden faces are getting selected when they overlap with the actual face/features I need to work on.  I'm guessing it's a desktop heap issue since it doesn't happen 100% of the time.

Any idears?

RE: Hidden bodies selectable?

Have you already adjusted the Heap settings in the registry?

What happens if you temporarily delete the bodies instead of just hiding them?

I haven't adjusted the heap settings yet.  I could try the temporary delete option for troubleshooting, but it's obviously not a long-term solution.  I'll try to give it a shot, though.

RE: Hidden bodies selectable?

I think I've had the same thing before; I've always had to rotate the model around so that ONLY the part I want to select is under the cursor.

Does 'show hidden components' help you at all?

RE: Hidden bodies selectable?

It could also be a graphics card/driver issue.

Try deselecting both Selection of hidden edges options in b]Tools > Options > System Options > Display/Selection

BTW, are you using the isolate command or the regular Hide command ... not that it should make a difference.

RE: Hidden bodies selectable?

I like to use "select other" for situations like that, you can keep everything shown and then right click to clear away the surfaces on an as-need basis

RE: Hidden bodies selectable?

Select Other is not useful in this situation.  I'm really drilling down into a multibody part, so I need clear line of sight.

Deleting the bodies acts as suspected.  Looking like a graphics card issue.
