Burst Test Calculations per UG-101(m) - Multiple Part Assemblies

Burst Test Calculations per UG-101(m) - Multiple Part Assemblies

(OP)
I have an assembly I would like to burst test to ASME B&PV Code Section VIII UG-101(m).  The assembly consists of several parts, but is essentially two clamshell pieces held together in a flange type configuration with fasteners.  There are also several pipe pieces threaded into the clamshells that are under consideration for burst strength.

My question is, when I get a burst pressure result, how do I go about applying the de-rating formulas in UG-101(m)?  These are the formulas where you take the actual tensile strength of the material used and calculate a de-rated pressure, and then use this also in the temperature derating formulas.  Do I do this analysis only on the failed part, or do I apply the de-rating formulas to all parts (those that failed as well as did not fail)?

Thanks.

Ask your Authorized Inspection Agency  (AI) they will usually guide you through your first Proof Test for a fee. (At least a worthy AIA would)

OF COURSE obtain the Code and read up on it. All the answers are there.
