Overlapping Views Cut off Shading

Overlapping Views Cut off Shading

Overlapping Views Cut off Shading

(OP)
When I export to a pdf file, my shaded views that overlap lose their shading.  See attached.  Is there a way to prevent this?

RE: Overlapping Views Cut off Shading

are you 32 or 64 bit?
If you are 64 bit then you will have better results with pdf-XChange4.0
But I am not sure if that is the source of yur problem

RE: Overlapping Views Cut off Shading

Yes I am at 64 bit.  I am actually exporting right from NX to a pdf, not through another program.  Can I use another program?

RE: Overlapping Views Cut off Shading

so when you do the exporting; are you exporting a drawing view or model view?

drawing

RE: Overlapping Views Cut off Shading

What we do is
File > print > change printer to "PDF-XChange 4.0" > press "Apply" then save it to a file

I really don't know much technical pdf stuff beyond that.

RE: Overlapping Views Cut off Shading

What version of NX are you running?

RE: Overlapping Views Cut off Shading

I have duplicated the behavior that you found, in the latest versions of NX.  I checked with the person responsible for the Export -> PDF functionality and he said that development is aware of this issue and that it's something that Drafting needs to address (the PDF code is doing what it's supposed to do, it's just not getting the correct information).  While he said that he's aware of at least one PR that is already open covering this issue, he recommends that anyone else encountering this should contact GTAC and have them open their own PR's (which will be linked to the original one) as this will give an appreciation as to the extent of this issue, which will help raise the priority given to the effort needed to resolve the problem.

John, yes I am also working in NX7.5, we will contact them.

Jerry, I tried printing to a PDF printer, and got the same issue.  But if it is a drafting issue, I can see why that would happen.  I will just have to print as a wireframe, or export a DXF and open in another CAD program, until this is fixed.
