Extrude Up to Faces

Extrude Up to Faces

Extrude Up to Faces

(OP)
Hi,
I'm trying to extrude a rectangle to a set of faces but depending on which one I pick, the extrusion matches one and falls short of the other, or the extrusion matches the one and goes through the other.

How can I get it to extrude flush to a set of faces, not just one.

I've attached a screenshot of what I'm talking about. Hopefully it illustrates my question.

Thanks in advance

RE: Extrude Up to Faces

Extrude with the Up to Body option.

I tried this but it says the body doesn't terminate the extrusion. I'm guessing the top part which isn't stopped by the body is causing the error.

RE: Extrude Up to Faces

Can you attach the sldprt rather than an image?

RE: Extrude Up to Faces

Try copying the surfaces of interest (e.g. offset w/ zero distance), then extrude up to the surface body.

Attached is the Sldprt. I'm using SW2011

"Try copying the surfaces of interest (e.g. offset w/ zero distance), then extrude up to the surface body. "

What do you mean by copying surfaces of interest? Thanks for the tips!

RE: Extrude Up to Faces

What surfaces interest you?  Which faces are defining the end of your extrusion?

Thanks! I didn't even know there was a surfaces tab until you showed me.

Attached is a picture of the part I'm trying to model. It's some clip that came with a TV my dad bought and I thought it would be good to learn how to model it.

I tried offsetting the surfaces but I still run into a problem where the very top of the extrusion isn't terminated by the body or any surface. Now that you told me about surfaces though I'm going to see if there's a way I can offset the surface parallel to the surface face rather than perpendicular to create the end definition that Solidworks wants.
