Problem with result Stress in plate

Problem with result Stress in plate

(OP)
Hi everyone,
thank you for you kindly support

I have studied a steel plate 140x240x10mm which subjected to load 1153 N. This plate is constrained with six bolts. I calculated the stress manually with Stress = force/Area got about 1MPa (average). and I also try to calculate by FEM with Patran. I created model with 2 conditions of load , Load on edge and load on surface. I expected that average stress generating on plate would be the same or nearly each other. But the result showed that with case that load on edge the average stress on plate is about 10 times (at least) higher than load on surface (It should be the same except only stress concentration region I think). Could anyone guide me what cause this problem?

Sorry for my English,

Thank in advance for helping

RE: Problem with result Stress in plate

HI,

Have you checked in your .F06 file the OLOADS for both cases just to see if the total applied load is the same on both models? Quick check to make sure to compare two comparable load cases.

Thank you franc11HD

I found that Total load in not the same .
