Forcing view updates

Forcing view updates

Is there a setting that forces views to update before plotting/printing?  I just got a message from our shop letting me know that the numbers on some of our prints aren't working out.  I checked the model and everything was fine, but found that the drawings had been printed with outdated views.

RE: Forcing view updates

In drafting goto , preferences - drafting - view (tab) - update, uncheck Delay View Update and Delay update on Creation.
You can also set this in customer defaults.
Or if you make use of templates, adjust this setting in the template part (and save it).

Best regards,

Michaël.

RE: Forcing view updates

Micky gave the right answer, but the only bad thing about unchecking that is that the drawing will update every time it is opened, and with a complex drawing that can take some time.

RE: Forcing view updates

You either force the regen of the drawing or you end up plotting out-dating drawings.
Until the designers get in the habit of regenerating every drawing sheet before they plot and save, you need to have th forced regen on.

Maybe Siemens could force a regen when the drawing file is saved or plotted? That would help prevent out-dated data from getting out.

Thanks for the replies.  My customer defaults are set to regen automatically, but that seems to be overwritten by the part file settings. Adding a forced regen to plotting, or at least a warning, would be a nice addition.

RE: Forcing view updates

I agree that a warning would be a nice thing to add - and I thought at one time NX did do that, but maybe that was with a differnt CAD system that I worked on.

Actually, there is a warning in the print/plot dialogue box (out of date message beside the sheet name) but it is small and easy to miss.
