Day Tank Sizing

Day Tank Sizing

Day Tank Sizing

(OP)
I'm sizing a diesel day tank for a dual fuel gas turbine to be located offshore.  I would really appreciate advice on the following:

1. What is the purpose of the day tank?
2. Does the day tank have to located local to the turbine?
3. Does the tank need to be sized for one days diesel consumption.  This would mean a 60 m3 tank for me.

Thanks.

RE: Day Tank Sizing

I would put those questions to whoever asked you to size it.

RE: Day Tank Sizing

"Typical" Day-tank is a buffer tor the fuel transfer pump system, and is sixes for no less than 4-hrs of running and usually no more than 12-hrs of running.

I've never seen a Day-tank that would last 24-hrs at full consumption.  Its just a buffer.
