Hi. I am an Etabs newbie, just want to know when and when not to release moment in beam?..Can somebody help me about seismic design on a 4-Storey RC Bldg..What steps should i follow?when to used EQx,EQy..

RE: When to release and not to release moment on members?

If the beam is designed to allow rotation at the support then you should release the end fixity. The only application I have come accross this in concrete design is the precast units which are supported on bearings or a corbel type detail.
