P355NH - Equivalent forging material?

P355NH - Equivalent forging material?

(OP)
Hi, I just want ask which EN forged material is considered the equivalent of P355NH, is it P305GH?

The issue is that we are buying Tube Sheets designed in accordance with EN 13445, but the designer specified WSTE 355 in forging material. From my searchings P355NH is stated to be equivalent, however that is in plate and we need forged material.

RE: P355NH - Equivalent forging material?

I'd first look at S355NLH (ISO 10799 for cold-formed; ISO 630-2 for hot formed).  These ISO specs also list other alloys which may be considered.

You need to make sure that your selection still meets the specified properties for originally-specified WSTE 355.

CobusvanJ,

Grade P355NH (1.0565) also appears in EN 10222-4 [I]Steel forgings for pressure purposes — Part 4: Weldable fine-grain steels with high proof strength[I].  P305GH (1.0436) is specified in EN 10222-2, and is a little lower in strength.

RE: P355NH - Equivalent forging material?

Before one goes down the path of alternative or equivalent steels for tubesheets, one better review the following regarding use of materials -

EN 13445-2 : Unfired pressure vessels - Part 2: Materials
