Non-rated non-bearing interior partition intersecting a fire wall

Non-rated non-bearing interior partition intersecting a fire wall

Non-rated non-bearing interior partition intersecting a fire wall

(OP)
Does a non-fire rated, non-load bearing interior partition intersecting a tenant separation wall (2 hrs) has any fire rating requirements?
The interior wall is free standing and will only end at the tenant separation wall, they will not be mechanically connected.
There is nothing in IBC regarding this situation, but it is very common.
Any help will be appreciated.

RE: Non-rated non-bearing interior partition intersecting a fire wall

It's difficult to answer such a broad question without knowing the adopted building code, the occupancy classification on both sides of the wall, the building construction type, and if the building is protected by an automatic sprinkler system.

RE: Non-rated non-bearing interior partition intersecting a fire wall

(OP)
The code is the IBC 2007 edition, occupancy is mercantile on both sides, type of construction VB, and it is protected by sprinkler both sides.

RE: Non-rated non-bearing interior partition intersecting a fire wall

Why is separation even required? The 2-hour wall isn't required.

There is no such thing as the 2007 IBC, unless this is a state code.

I'm having a hard time wondering why the 2-hour is an issue. What's the building area? Is their lot line issues?
