API 603 vs ASME B16.34

API 603 vs ASME B16.34

API 603 vs ASME B16.34

(OP)
I am reviewing/redoing pipe specs for my plant and I am noticing some inconsistencies in their specs.  For the cast 316 SS gate, globe, and check valve specs, API 603 is called for compliance.  Some of the valves in the spec comply with B16.34 wall thickness and some comply with API 603 wall thickness.

What is the difference between API 603 and B16.34 concerning wall thickness?

Also, if a valve complies with B16.34 wall thickness does it comply with API603?

RE: API 603 vs ASME B16.34

There is no difference between the minumim wall thickness requirements of API 603 and ASME B16.34.
Just because a valve complies with ASME B16.34 does not mean that it complies with API 603.
There are many requirements listed in API 603 that are not covered by or addressed by ASME B16.34.
