Threaded bar and studs

Threaded bar and studs

Threaded bar and studs

(OP)
Greetings,

i have a high pressure vessel, the manhole cover was bolted to the manhole flange using 1 1/8" stud, grade b7(or could have been grade L7) here is my question, can i use a threaded bar of the same grade  cut to size in place of these studs to bolt this man hole cover?

RE: Threaded bar and studs

Since the all thread has the same properties as the stud, I cannot see why shouldn't you cut it in lengths and use it as set of studs. In fact, that's how they make it in the factory, cut the required lengths on automatic lathe.

RE: Threaded bar and studs

Ends stamped so they can be identified.
