Fuel Conditioning

Fuel Conditioning

(OP)
Reading the Hot Vapor Engine Smokey engineered, not only here in threads, but, old issues of Popular Science magazines. The main objective seems to be fuel prep from the carburetor to the intake valve and continued in the combustion chamber like any other gasser. I see everyone mention, or more accurrately assume an ICE will detonate period at some point. Nothing is impossible.

Him and others have tried obviously with no succession. I am not sure how many have read his article in the April 1983 issue, you will see what the floor and roof appear like. His 'Spiral Combustion' theory in practice you could say. The only situation where I have seen is the fuel has to be in a liquid state (atomized, puddling) in either a crevice volume area or an area that is surrounded by compressing the fuel from approaching flame fronts and the compression stroke itself.

If the vapor itself has propagated correctly, and the in-cylinder turbulence is happening adequately, when would there be enough time and enough temperature drop for the vapor (which is in the 400 degree range at this point) to collect back to an atomized state producing a detonation situation before the spark is produced?
