In AutoCAD 2010 is it possible to create an attribute that is inline (embedded) within an existing text object?  For example:

© 2011 MY COMPANY NAME AND LOCATION.

I want 2011 to be an attribute but I don't want to create it seperate from the text line.  In this case it probably wouldn't matter but in other cases I would need the remaining fixed text to adjust left or right depending on the value of the attribute.

RE: Create an attribute inline with existing text object

Have you considered using a field for the date?

No, does the field behave the same and show up in a dialog to edit when you include it in an attribute block?  I am not familiar with fields in AutoCAD.

RE: Create an attribute inline with existing text object

A field automatically grabs dynamic information from somewhere (from your computers clock, I think, in this case) and can be included in an MTEXT object in the drawing. You can control when the field is updated through the drawing options/user preference/field settings, if necessary.

Thanks I will have to look into that.  I don't suppose that by the same means you can automate the numbering of your draing sheets, can you?    SHEET X of Y where Y is the number of layouts in the drawing file and X is the current layout you are working on.  Is there a listing of ACAD internal attributes like this that can be leveraged?
