Section Views not sectioning Reuse Library parts NX 7.5.4 64 Bit

Section Views not sectioning Reuse Library parts NX 7.5.4 64 Bit

Section Views not sectioning Reuse Library parts NX 7.5.4 64 Bit

For some reason in drafting the sections are not sectioning the Reuse/Machinery library parts? It does section all of the other components. I looked in the customer defaults and in the section preferences and have not seen any options to disable this. The only thing I found was to place the view and then manually change it to be a sectioned part. Does any one else have this problem??? Is there any defaults or options for this??
Thanks,
LB

RE: Section Views not sectioning Reuse Library parts NX 7.5.4 64 Bit

If the reuse library parts are things like fasteners (nuts and bolts), they are not being sectioned because virtually all Drafting standards state that fasteners should not be shown as sectioned when creating section views on a drawing.

If this is something that you wish to only override in a few cases, then may I suggest that you try going to...

Edit -> View -> Section in View...

...and select the section view, then select the unsectioned Components that you wish to be sectioned and then in the Action area of the dialog toggle ON the 'Make Sectioned' option and hit OK.  Now update the display of the views and you should be good to go.

Now if you wish for these components to NEVER EVER BE SECTIONED when used in the future, you will need to go to the reuse library and edit the MASTER TEMPLATE Part files (not the individual family members but the master templates themselves).

To do this, ppen the master Template file, go to...

File -> Properties -> Attributes

...and delete the part attribute named 'SECTION-COMPONENT' and then save the part file.  Now if there are part family members already created using this master template you will need to regenerate/replace them using the newly edited master template part file.

Thanks for the input John. I realized that it was the standard but I never new that there was an attribute to control it.
