TPE vs TPV
TPE vs TPV
(OP)
Hi,
I am trying to over mold Polypropylene with a rubber like material and have narrowed it down to TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) and TPV (thermoplastic vulcanizate). I do not know the real differences and have some questions:
1)Can they both be overmolded onto polypropylene?
2)Which one is generally cheaper
3)Can I get them in any shore durometer? (I'm trying to achieve a soft quishy overmold)
4)Are there color limitations to either TPE or TPV?
Thank you!

RE: TPE vs TPV
Most common brand is Santoprene.
It can be any thermoplastic and any rubber dispersed but by far the most common thermoplastic matrix is PP, so it is very compatible with PP
The raw materials suppliers should be able to provide data as it is a very common practice.

i.e. (Is one cheaper? Is one easier to process? Is one superior in properties? etc..)
