54 inch ?

54 inch ?

54 inch ?

(OP)
Hi all,

looking at ASME B16.47, there is a 54NB flange, where when I look in AMEB31.10M, there is no 54 inch pipe listed, it jumped from 52 to 56 inch.

Could someone please comment on this?

Cheers

RE: 54 inch ?

I think b16.47 is about carbon stl and B36.10M(..)is about stainless steel

RE: 54 inch ?

If you read the forewords in these standards, you will see that they were not developed by ASME originally. The pipe standard and flange standard came from different backgrounds. They don't necessarily match each other. There is 22" pipe in B36.10, but no flange of this size in B16.5. B16.47 covers flange up to 60", B36.10 has pipes up to  80".

Spoonful......

Perhaps you should get more of a life outside of engineering

RE: 54 inch ?

Mr. Cronin, do you know where I can find a 52,5" flange?

RE: 54 inch ?

europipe,

Where to find a 52 1/2" Diameter flange depends on if you are making both sides of the joint.  If you are, I would construct it as a body flange in accordance with Section VIII Division 1 Appendix 2.
