White LEDs in Et-16 style indicating light sockets

White LEDs in Et-16 style indicating light sockets

Is anyone else using the white LED bulbs in GE ET-16 indicating light sockets w/external resistors.

We have specified many of these with white, red, green & amber LED bulbs depending on application. We are seeming many of the white lights getting dim over 2+ years while the other colors are performing well. I've also noticed that the white LED cause the external resistor to run much hotter then the other colored units. We are using mainly 125VDC & I have checked that it is the properly sized resistor.

The vendor seems to surprised by these issues & has provided newer bulbs to replace with. I am interested to know if this is a common issue. If so we may look to use other colors or incandescent bulbs for the white light application.

Thanks
Andy

RE: White LEDs in Et-16 style indicating light sockets

Are these lamps sold by GE or someone else?  Hard to know if there are similar issues, unless the vendor is known.  I've not heard of any similar issues.  We generally use white LEDs with colored lens.

The white LEDs we use are from LEDtronics, the UTL series. The other colored LEDs are purchased thru GE, but I think LEDtronics makes the GE ones as well. Most of our bulbs are the single bulb type. We have used the cluster type LED bulb a couple times in red or green applications.

Dave, who's LEDs do you use? what voltage?

Thanks
Andy

I've only used the ones from GE - these are a cluster of multiple LEDs as far as I can recall.
