Stuck on default material in Workbench Static Structural analysis

Stuck on default material in Workbench Static Structural analysis

(OP)
Hello,

I am currently using v13 of workbench. Both myself and my colleague have used earlier versions, yet we cannot figure out how to select a material.

Within the model tree in the mechanical application, we used to select the material but clicking model->geometry->part name and then selecting material in the material assignment pull down menu. There are no options there except structural steel - or the menu itself won't pull down.

Clicking engineering data sources in the project schematic brings up the 7 default libraries. When I click on general materials however, all the entries in the toolbox are grayed out and it is not obvious how to actually select the material!

Thanks for any tips!
