.STP Section Difficulties

(OP)
Working with an imported CATIA V5 file received as a .STEP. This component cannot be sectioned in a drawing. By this I mean that when I create a section of the view no section lines appear etc. the view does not change as it should.

Can anyone explain why? Is it something to do with .STEP?

Thanks!

how work with him

RE: .STP Section Difficulties

Yes, you will need to 'solidify' the part.  Hopefully it will be as easy as a button click, but I've had difficulties with some models due to overlapping surfaces and voids.

Edit Definition of the Import Feature.  Go to the Edit menu and select Feature Properties and Make Solid.  Back out of the redefine mode (there's a green check mark somewhere) and see if that worked.  Another option that may or may not be available is the Solidify option under the Edit menu.  Haven't really figured out why/when one works over the other.

Good luck,
