P355GH IN SECTION VIII-1
P355GH IN SECTION VIII-1
(OP)
Dear All,
P355GH has been adopted by Section VIII-1 in Edition 2010 under part UCS. Its allowable stresses are not given in Table 1A of Section II-D. So how to take allowable stresses for this material?
Its yield strength values at different temperature are provided in EN 10028, tensile strength only provided at room temperature. So with this info, we cannot apply Appendix 1 of Section II-D to determine the allowable stresses because this information is not complete.
Any idea about this?
Same story is about its use in Section VIII-2, Table 5A does not provide its allowable stress value.

See UG-23(a).

Sorry I did not pick your intention. You mean P355GH has the same allowable stress value as does have P295GH?
P355GH have higher allowable stress values I believe.
UG-23(a) refers to Table 1A of Section II-D for maximum allowable stress values in tension.

RE: P355GH IN SECTION VIII-1
Yes. Table UCS-23 lists them together, (on the same line), UG-23(a) says, in part, "For material identified as meeting more than one material specification and / or grade the maximum allowable tensile stress value for either material specification and / or grade may be used..."
As I said, a guess on my part, but how else to explain the lack of tabulated values for P355GH?

Mike
RE: P355GH IN SECTION VIII-1
P295GH and P355GH are written in the same line in Table UCS-23 because both belong to EN 10028-2:that is the only reason.
They have not same allowable stresses if we see at EN 10028 because their mechanical properties are different (i-e yield strength) at temperatures.
So still the same question, how to determine allowable stresses of P355GH in VIII-1 or VIII-2 construction?

Yes I know it was just your opinion.
What I have explained above, it is my opinion.
Thank you for nice understanding.
