most indentation problems seem to be displacement controlled, where the indenter in contact with the structure of concern are put in contact by a appying a non-zero displacement BC on the indenter towards the structure. In my model I have the indenter close in distance to the structure but not actually touching. I want to apply a load to the indenter in direction of the structure but I get an error. It only works when the indenter is initially in some contact( like point contact) with the structure but it doesn't work if they are spaced away. my contact interactions seem okay, so help please

the next and last questions is if I want to plot contact force vs indentation. I have to apply a coupling constraint where I can obtain the contact force all of the nodes as my constraint region and use the reference point of the indenter as the control point...Which coupling type do I use: kinematic or continnum distributing or structural distributing?????
