Hemstock Concrete Products

Does anyone have information for precast and/or prestressed planks manufactured by a company named Hemstock Concrete Products?  The company was located in LaCrosse, WI and is no longer in business.
We are currently renovating a building that was built with this product and would like to get this information as we to modify these planks.
I've aready checked SlideRuleEra's web site and had no luck.

Thanks!

RE: Hemstock Concrete Products

I know quite a bit about the history and the products based on the time period.

Were they precast or prestressed plank or even the older planks made using concrete block that were tensioned in the plant before erection?

the original brothers that were in business eventually were split apart and there are some fragments. The production facilities were sold and the source of the actual materials will take some digging, but not impossible.

Hi Dick
I was able to talk with a salesman that worked for the company, he said that the company was sold about eleven years ago.  However, he did not have any technical information and did not know of anyone I would be able to contact.
The plans I have indicate that the building would have been built in 1999.  The members we need to modify are roof planks.  The plans also indicate that these planks are pre-stressed, pre-cast that use series 8S46 & 8S48 cable configurations.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

John -

Because of the cost of a precast plant, they do not usually go away when ownership changes. This, coupled with the extremely high rate of membership in the PCI and the strict requirements and record keeping the plant may have been sold to another precast producer, operated or moved (along with the valuable records) to a different location within 100-200 miles or so because precast can be shipped easily.

There are very few suppliers of equipment for roof plank (if hollow core) and the width and thickness would help in the detective process. The equipment manufacturers are mainly European, but Spancrete in WI (Milwaukee area) could have information on the actual manufacturer.

Two concrete producer companies to contact would be Wells Precast in MN and County Materials with plants in Roberts and Eau Claire WI and IL. Since it was only 12 years ago, there may be some memories and clues to the exact products, since roof planks are usually a commodity.
