Vacuum Conductanse Analysis

Vacuum Conductanse Analysis

Vacuum Conductanse Analysis

(OP)
Hello,
I've been tasked to compare the vacuum conductance of a new design vs an old system.
The old system is a 10 ft long capped pipe(6 in ID) with three 12 in long/1 in ID pipes drilled in perpendicular. The first pipe is 1 ft away from the open end, and the remaining pipes are at a distance of 4 feet and 8 feet away from the open end. The pipes are capped with a 2 in ID piece of PVC.
The new system is 10 ft pipe with a very thick wall. The ID is 3 inches, and the pipes that are drilled into it has an ID of 4 inches. Same distance and lengths for pipes as before.
Since these are in series i take it I am to use the 1/C=1/c1+1/c2+1/c3... formula. But at this point I at bit of loss of how to calculate the conductance. The vacuum force would be the same for both. Where should I start to solve this dilema? Thank you

Note: the vacuum is applied to the open end of the capped tube and the capped perpendicular tubes is where we attach our substrates.
