In NX 6 I am trying to figure out how to add this centerline (red in attachment) for indicating that the 2nd edge there is at the same height as the first edge is dimensioned.  Works good when you have hole features to use the hold centerline tool and select both holes, but how do you do it for straight features like this?  I know that I can apply AAE to the view and then draw a line from the curve toolbar but that line touches the actual part edges and that method seems pretty kludgy.

RE: Create dimension extension line between coaxial edges

Dimension to the far edge and add gaps (user defined symbol located in the utility directory) to the extension line.  It may take a few attempts to place it where you want, but IMO it is better than adding a line.
Why are you using a centerline font?

Not sure which is worse, there you have to actually measure the edge you want the dim extension line to skip over and add some for the gap.
