material spec on drawing

(OP)
Having a disagreement with an Engineering Manager. We have a part drawing with a material spec for SPFC 980 with Thickness of 2.0 +/- 0.1mm and a part thickness specification of 1.8mm Minimum. I can not get him to understand that the 2.0mm specification is for the raw material before the forming process, not the finished part. Am I wrong?

RE: material spec on drawing

Obviously, the forming process induce a thinning of the material. Your supplier should be able to confirm the minimum thickness after forming.

RE: material spec on drawing

you can list Nominal/rough material T, and must also list the actual T., and also list the min. T, as long as you use the right material T and calculated T for your vessel.
