Need low CTE Epoxy

Need low CTE Epoxy

Need low CTE Epoxy

(OP)
I am looking for a casting epoxy that has good mechanical strength and high tempererature capability with a low CTE.  We've tested BisA with 20% glass microbubble fill and have measured 25 uin/in-degF. We measured unfilled to be 35 uin/in-degF.   I need an epoxy with a CTE around 13 uin/in-degF .

Please make recommendations on what else I can do to reduce the CTE?  Different fillers?  Different resin?

Thanks

RE: Need low CTE Epoxy

Try Bacon Industries P-182.
Coefficient of Linear Thermal Expansion: 11.7 - 15.3 between -65'F & 212'F.

Great lead Dave.  Have you worked with this material before?  What is your opinion about using if for a casting?  Do you think brittleness is going to be troublesome?

Thanks,
Scott

RE: Need low CTE Epoxy

Scott,

Have used previous version (P-82) of this epoxy for a small sensor casting - no problems with brittleness!
Try Bacon's website for full details: www.baconindustries.com.
Hope things work out.

Regards,

Dave
