Uses for ESD bags

Uses for ESD bags

Uses for ESD bags

(OP)
As part of our manufacturing assembly process we receive a lot of components in ESD shielding bags.  The bags are brand new and upon removal of the component from the bag, the bags are simply thrown away.  This seems like a colossal waste to me.  In some cases, such as when we have padded ESD bags, we will send these back to the vendor for reuse.

I'm interested in knowing what others are doing in this situation.  I'm sure there is some sort of "life" in these bags and they can't be recycled and reused forever.  If so, how is that determined?

Thanks...

RE: Uses for ESD bags

I believe that they become unsightly long before they become ineffective. We keep a large quantity of used ESD bags on hand, but sooner or later they have to be tossed out. They're not very valuable, so I wouldn't stay up late worrying about it.
