Communication Protocols

(OP)
I am not that much familiar with communication protocols. Can anyone suggest me some good reference so that I can study it from the Substation Communincation stand point.

Thanks in advance.

RE: Communication Protocols

You may want to check out PacWorld Journal.  Www.PacWorld.org

RE: Communication Protocols

You should check out www.DNP.org and www.MODBUS.org . DNP & MODBUS are two very common protocols for use in electrical substations. These sites have lots of data on the protocols - usage, implementation, products, etc.

There's an excellent book called "Practical Electrical Network Automation & Control Systems" by Cobus Strauss which you may be able to find as a free download.
