High Torque DC Motors

High Torque DC Motors

(OP)
Hey everyone,

Was wondering if anyone had a good source for high torque DC motors that work on 12V.

Looking for something I can put in a car that has positive and negative terminals ( as compared to chassis ground like a starter) and will put out at least 25 ftlbs of torque.

Suggestions??

Thanks,
Nickd

RE: High Torque DC Motors

The best way to obtain high torque from a simple 12v DC motor probably is using some kind of speed reducer attached to the motor. It will "swap" velocity for torque.

RE: High Torque DC Motors

Suggestion: A DC series winding motor could possibly be applicable. Visit
http://www.thomasregister.com
and type Motors: DC under Product or Service that will return
337 Companies to contact regarding your special DC motor characteristics.
