Modelling beam in Ansys Workbench

Modelling beam in Ansys Workbench

Modelling beam in Ansys Workbench

(OP)
Hi, coming from Ansys classic I do the following to model a simple beam: I define a line, I define a cross section and finally attribute a beam189 element to it. Now, I'd like to do the same in workbench, but I cannot figure out how to do it. I just want to model a simple truss construction in 2d. It works when I define a cross section, then extrude, then mesh. But this way I generate a file, which is bigger than a simple beam element. Can I tell workbench to use beam189? Any advice?

RE: Modelling beam in Ansys Workbench

Hi, Im doing my MSC in structural engineering and im trying to design a composite beam on ANSYS but i haven't manage to achieve a composite action between steel and concrete. Im using shell 43 for the beam, solid 65 for the concrete and combin39 for the shear connectors.I think that the problem is on the shear connectors.I dont know what load deflection curve i have to use.Any suggestions?
