How to go about a PVDF Pipe Wall Tensile Test

How to go about a PVDF Pipe Wall Tensile Test

(OP)
Hi all,

Just working on a Project at the moment, aiming to get some very accurate Stress/Strain results from sections of the pipe wall.

Clamping it into a tensile rig is all well and good but the accuracy really wont be there.

The dog-bone shaped samples are to be cut directly from the wall and be roughly 20mmx160mm and about 10mm thick. (These dimensions can easily be changed).

Due to the internal stresses in the material when it is cut from the pipe it not only retains its ID and OD but also curves outwards.

Im looking for a way to test without really touching the material at all, as this will implant extra bending stresses, I also dont want to machine the material either? I can attach a picture later if needed.

P.S I am in my Masters year in Mech Eng so please answer in appropriate detail.

Thankyou in advance, Regards

M
