concrete Test cubes - size?

concrete Test cubes - size?

concrete Test cubes - size?

(OP)
Hi Struct.Engs.

There are two different kind of concrete testcubes, at least her ein south africa (SABS) 150x150x150 and 100x100x100. At the laboratory they opperate with this two but 90% of the cubes are still the 150x150x150

Why actually?
Why not going for the smaller one?

RE: concrete Test cubes - size?

In Canada, we use 150mm dia. x 300mm high cylinders which exhibit lower strength than 150mm cubes.

There may be some doubt as to the validity of 100 mm cubes, but they are necessary for very high strength concrete because of the capacity of the testing machine.
