average pressure drop of 1/4 back pressure valve

average pressure drop of 1/4 back pressure valve

(OP)
Hello,
Does anyone know what the average pressure drop(or flow rate) of 1/4''(quarter inch) back pressure valve is?
I am having hard time finding this information for my valve.
Thank you

RE: average pressure drop of 1/4 back pressure valve

You need the Cv coefficient of the valve to give you pressure drop per gallon of flow across it.  You need to look for the Cv for a 1/4 valve at full open, then at any given flowrate you can calculate its pressure drop.

We will design everything from now on using only S.I. units ... except for the pipe diameter.

RE: average pressure drop of 1/4 back pressure valve

Cv is not applicable to back pressure valve according to below link.

IMO, the pressure drop of a BPV will varies with the pressure setting.

RE: average pressure drop of 1/4 back pressure valve

Nobody cares what the pressure setting is in regards to anything more than how that determines what the differential pressure is at any given time.  The only thing that determines flow is the [b]differential[b] pressure across the valve and the geometry of the hole in the valve, described by Cv.

We will design everything from now on using only S.I. units ... except for the pipe diameter.
