plc simulator freeware for AB

(OP)
Hi all,

I'm pursuing a job opportunity in an outside sales/technical support position in the mineral processing industry. I've been in the industry for 17 years as a mechanical and application engineer. However, this position's requirement's include some understanding of PLC's. I have this but don't have on the job experience other than a short stint 5 years ago drawing up ladder logic diagrams in Autocad. Basically translating scribble to service manual drawings. This was for industrial washer & dryers so a lot of inputs/outputs; 300-500 I/Os. I've also over the years delved into the subject but only because of my own interest.
The mineral process environment for this particular manufacturer is outdoors, mainly open pit aggregate mining. Crushing, screening and conveying of rock. The equipment is very basic with HPs ranging from 5.0 to 600, conveyor belt scales, hydraulic pumps, motors, temps and pressures, servo operated valves; both hydraulic and water etc. I need some help with examples of this type of plant. Also would appreciate any suggestions on freeware for simulating PLC logic. This would not be my primary function but would be required for onsite diagnoses more than likely with a professional via cellphone. Thanks in advance. I've been in this specific industry 17 years unfortunately the limited experience with PLC's was a short term detour.
