We have a Miller engine driven welder that has zero output - weld or AC - haven't been able to find a bad fuse or any damage anywhere (it's 6 yrs old and has 100 hrs on it, it's been stored unused for most of that 6 yrs. We tried to restart the field by plugging a power tool in to the AC pug and spinning with another drill to no avail - any suggestions?

RE: Genrator field loss

Is it a DC field? Try flashing it. They usually lose remanence.

Half full - Half empty? I don't mind. It's what in it that counts.

Could you explain the procedure to me?

RE: Genrator field loss

I am not familiar with the Miller machines. So I think it is better to let the experts do the explaining. Look here: http://weldingweb.com/showthread.php?t=34411

Great link - I know the rings are clean (they look it and I cleaned them anyway)but I'll check the voltage at the rings first chance.
