Just want to get a sense from others in the industry on how strictly this requirement is adhered to in general.

The reason I ask is we just started an Order where we are replacing the tube bundles in several heat exchangers, originally fabricated in 2008.  The units are TEMA type AES, and the fixed head tubesheets have neither indepenedent bolt circles, nor tapped bolt holes.  The owner provided us with drawings, which had called for API 660 construction.

RE: API 660 - Section 7.6.2.4

TJOrlowski, 7.6.2.4 applies to B-head only, no removable channel cover.

For new construction B's, no question I'd do it.

For replacements, well, you work with what's there.

Mike
