Orientation dependent loads in cantilever beam problem?

Orientation dependent loads in cantilever beam problem?

Orientation dependent loads in cantilever beam problem?

(OP)
I need some help understanding how to achieve orientation dependent loading. Please see the attached photo for an example of what I am talking about.

Basically I would like to be able to define some points, say the free end and the midpoint. At each of these points, the rotation from the neutral position/slope of the beam is calculated based upon the loading condition. However, the magnitude of the load is dependent on the beam slope at those positions using some function.

I am thinking that if I could create a reference point and couple it to the beam such that it rotates/translates with the beam. Then maybe that rotation could be fed into a function that specifies the load.

Can anyone offer some suggestions on what I might need to do to achieve this?

RE: Orientation dependent loads in cantilever beam problem?

In the CAE: Load > concentrated forces, there is an suboption "followind nodal rotation"

That is good for making sure that the direction is correct, but I am still unsure of how to define the magnitude of the load force as a function of the beam orientation at various points.

RE: Orientation dependent loads in cantilever beam problem?

Just a general tip, check if there is a suitable user subroutine. The user subroutines are very general, input data consists of the current deformations, time, and so on.
