SCADA data conversion

SCADA data conversion

SCADA data conversion

(OP)
I have to import SCADA data to a spreadsheet for further analysis.

Usually in what format does the SCADA data come in?
What is the best way to convert SCADA data to a spreadsheet format.

Thanks in advance

RE: SCADA data conversion

Interesting selection of forum to put this question in...

Anyway, the SCADA I use automatically exports data in Excel spreadsheets everyday at midnight.

I know of no other options for programs to use it with.

What kind of SCADA are you using?

Thanks Macmet,

Unfortunately I don't know what kind of SCADA system is being used. I am planning on visiting the client during the coming weeks and during this visit  I will be able to find out more information about the system.

RE: SCADA data conversion

SCADA data is not from a SCADA instrument.  It is poled from a collection of many instruments reporting what each instrument is measuring.  There are a number of protocols that the instrument poling system can use, many proprietary, although at least one is open.  The SCADA system is the integration of all the poled intrument values and time stamps of when measurements were taken into a presentation resulting in a display of the current state of the system understandable to the system's operator.

The data conversion will depend on which protocol is being used by the instruments and whatever format is required by the input to the "SCADA" program.
