Conveyor belt predictive maintenance

Conveyor belt predictive maintenance

Conveyor belt predictive maintenance

(OP)
Hello everybody,

I am looking to extend to the fullest the lives of our belts (in belt conveyor).  We already do regular preventive maintenance (inspection, roller changes, lubrication, etc).

Want I want to find out is if there is any predictive maintenance that can be done in belts, like measurement of rubber rigidity or checking tension of the belt, % elongation, et cetera.  This in order to have an estimated Failure Point and plan accordingly.

Do parameters like these exist and if so, are there limit values to hold (like vibration levels or % wear limit)?

Thank you

Jorge

RE: Conveyor belt predictive maintenance

Aside from the measures you mention about the only thing else I've seen done is watching the hardness using a Durometer. This is to look at any sign of the belt softening or hardening either of which can be the fore bearer of bad news.
