cryogenic tempering of structural steel

(OP)
Hello everyone,

I'm just wondering if you guys have heard about applying the principles of cryogenics in structural steel in order to improve its toughness and decrease its rate of corrosion? I'm hoping that you could give me a link about it. And if ever someone knew this topic.. How does the process works?? a brief explanation would be really a big help. tnx

RE: cryogenic tempering of structural steel

Might be a bit of voodoo - but I have hardened smaller tool steel parts using this process.  Some people swear by it.  Never heard it used for structural.  How could you possibly do it.

Spot application would probably warp the section...
