Any guesses what a nominal efficiency of this motor no newer than  the early 70s might be when running near full load?

thanks

RE: medium voltage motor efficiency ~ 1970

No way of knowing without contacting them, if they even exist any more. But I wouldn't assume anything better than 80% eff, especially for an 8 pole motor.

You have a US Motors 600hp 4kv 900rpm vertical motor built in 1970's.

I can offer one data point for comparison (recognizing there can be dramatic differences among even seemingly similar motors)

Reliance Electric 800hp 4kv 900rpm vertical motor built in the mid 1980's:
Full Load Efficiency:  94.7%
Full Load Power Factor: 82%

Hi EPete,

We're getting ready to discuss some recommendations with the customer. Mostly to measure the amps directly, so we know how much margin of power we have left on these machines.
I'm just checking on the pf you posted, in case a typo snuck in there.
