NX CAM: Tool Library

NX CAM: Tool Library

NX CAM: Tool Library

(OP)
I'm getting things prepared to start a department-wide tool library using solid model assemblies of tools, mostly from vendors such as Sandvik.
99% of our machining is in inches (I'm in aerospace), but probably 75% of our the purchased tools are ISO.
Informally I've been importing vendor step files into NX and allowing the system to convert the tools to inch. While this has worked fine when using "Assembly" tools during Tool Path Visualization, I've been wondering if this is the right thing to do. Since one of NX's strength is recreating reality, should I leave metric tools as "metric" when using them in an inch CAM session?
