Dissimilar P-No welding

Hi people,

we have to weld P-No.5A with P-No.4. Determinate ASME C. sec IX which kind of consumable to use? I think if I have to use consumable indicated for CrMo steel with lower chromium content or vice versa, consumable indicated for CrMo steel with higher chromium content.

Tnks for answers

RE: Dissimilar P-No welding

Either is acceptable if the procedure has been qualified as such.

RE: Dissimilar P-No welding

You have your choice of matching either the P-No 5A base material using B3 filler or using B2 filler metal to match the P-No 4 base material.
