Thermocycler

Thermocycler

(OP)
does anyone have experience with the  thermocyclers" http://www.thermocycler.com/ ?

i saw that a t a client's and it seemd the manufacturer claims much savings when heating. they don't provide much detail on how far they reach. It seems to me blowing warm air up and short-cycling can be an issue.

The one news article on their website says 2000 ft² coverage, which would be only a 44 ft square area.

How would that compare to Big Ass Fans regarding to heating energy savings?

the client was told 9by the sales person, not manufacturer) it would save a lot in AC. but i don't see how that is possible.

they don't seem to come with filters since the client had to self-made some filter material.

Does anyone have insight or experience with that?

RE: Thermocycler

i was designing it myseld in several manufacturing plants, but it seems those guys prepared such assembly as a product, which is respectable.

if you have waste heat in form of warm air that is not contaminated with stuff more detrimental than common dust, you can make cost/benefit analysis to see is it worthwhile.

once i made assembly with mixing chamber fresh air/recirculated warm air adjusted by manual damper according to needs, and it made great saving in part of large warehouse.

this is not comfortable solution, you mostly use bulk heat for some larger are and very rudimentary air distribution.

of course, you can apply more sophisticated air distribution and larger fan, but, again, that is matter of cost/benefit analysis.

RE: Thermocycler

For the space described in the application - large warehouses, nothing beats Radiant heat in my opinion.

RE: Thermocycler

well, radiant heat is comfortable and energy effective option in general, but here we are talking about use of large amount of waste heat contained in indoor air, mostly in upper zones of room, so described system hardly have competitive alternative.

some manufacturers also offer destratification fans, but they are always limited by room height, and large height is frequent issue in industrial facilities, so custom systems are a must, often.

Even more often, waste heat generation is not uniform, but takes place in some areas of large room only, which again calls for such system.
