Arc Gear Testing

Arc Gear Testing

(OP)
Hello,

"I aplogize for not being very much specific in the information here."

I need some input into understanding my responsibility as an  engineer and vendors responsibility who is supplying the equipment.

I am planning to buy a arc rated switchgear for a "X kV" voltage. For testing requirements, vendor is supplying a report by a testing company for "Y" kV arc rated test and assuring me that he will use the same cell for "X" kV application and it would work.

X voltage is smaller than Y.

Vendor  has  a test certificate for "Y" kV level but not for "x" kV.

How do I decide that it will work for new smaller "X" kV arc rating, if same cell dimesions are used.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks

RE: Arc Gear Testing

Are talking about something like 12 kV system and 15 kV gear? This would not normally be a problem.
