copying views from one drawing to another

(OP)
When you copy and paste between drawing documents you don't just have to activate the drawing into which you are pasting, you must click a point within the drawing sheet. It will only paste if a point on the drawing sheet is clicked - although a drawing view or any other item can exist outside the drawing sheet, only points within the drawing sheet are accepted for the paste command - or you get the "item in clipboard cannot be pasted here" message.

Hope that helps anyone else who was being driven mad by that!

RE: copying views from one drawing to another

You have to click somewhere to activate the paste command within a window.
I think it's a Windows thing, not SW.

I thought there was a question here somewhere...
Thanks for the info!

RE: copying views from one drawing to another

When copying data from an Excel spreadsheet or Word document, you have to indicate where the data is to be placed. SW is no different.

RE: copying views from one drawing to another

After which, Word and Excel puts it where they want...

RE: copying views from one drawing to another

Drives me crazy.
