Moving parts from a sub assembly to the main assembly
Moving parts from a sub assembly to the main assembly
(OP)
Hi all,
I am wondering if it is possible to move a part of a sub assembly to the main assembly without having to basically start from scratch. For instance if a brass bushing was added in the sub assembly when it should have been assembled in the final assembly, is there a way to drag it into the main assembly?
Thanks!
Joel

RE: Moving parts from a sub assembly to the main assembly
It's on the Home > Modify group in ST.
Note that if you transfer a part out of an assembly that is used more than once, you will lose that part from all instances of the assembly.
You will get a message to inform you if this is the case, and that the total part count will change. This is because the transfer is done ONCE only, from the sub-assembly you've chosen, so the instances in the other sub-assemblies will be lost.
There is a simple way round this - let me know if you need it.
There is also the Disperse command that moves all parts in a sub-assembly up to the next level, and then removes the sub-assembly.
This does not affect the sub-assembly file itself - that will still contain the parts. You can use this method for placing commonly used groups of parts, although System Library is the better way to do this.
