Intersection curves

Intersection curves

Intersection curves

(OP)
I have few sheets, tangent to each other, (extruded, tc mesh,...) which are sewed. This sewed sheets are thickened (I had to increase the tolerance a bit, to be able to do that). Now i need intersection curves of that new surface (which is "offset" created by thicken). Problem is that I keep getting gaps between resulting curves. Can't use them. Join doesn't help.
Also what is the best way, or if you could give me some tips,  to achieve constant thickness when surface is complex...made of several sewed sheets. Because shell or thicken or offset often fails. It seems that increasing tolerance may help, but produce problems later. Or I'm wrong?

Thanks

RE: Intersection curves

We would have to actually see an example part where this behavior is evident before we could suggest anything that might help.

Mdel is in mess and have to remove some data. Can't at the moment. Do You have any "general" advice?

RE: Intersection curves

There are so many possible issues and your description is not all that explicit so as I stated originally, without actually seeing the model it's hard to say anything.

Any suggestions?

RE: Intersection curves

I went back in your model and decreased the tolerances by a factor of 10 for Through Curve Mesh 61 and 85.  The last  intersection curves seem to work now but the next to last doesn't.  Maybe you can go though model and decrease the other modeling tolerances until it works.

For some reason I am unable to upload the modified file.

Thanks mmauklin, but I quit trying to achieve anything with tolerances. I approximated faulty area with bridge curve.

btw. John you were eager to see the model, and there was no response...:D. anyway if you're still reading this I am interested in your opinion about the overall quality of the model.

Cheers

RE: Intersection curves

The model is too complex to say that any one thing is the problem, but I suspect it all comes down to 'what tolerances were used for which operations'.  My suggestion is that you contact GTAC and send them the model and have the development people look at it.
