Converting a Solid Works assembly to .sldprt to a .stl

Converting a Solid Works assembly to .sldprt to a .stl

(OP)
Hey everyone!
Thx for the help with my last post! I am still having some difficulty. After I converted my assembly model to a .sldprt I ran into an issue converting it to a .stl so I could run it on Quickcast simulation software.
After I save the "model" as a .sldprt I need to convert it to a .stl to run on the simulation software. When I try to convert the model to the .stl it states that my part geometry is not correct to convert. The actual geometry is irrelevant I believe that it must be a formatting problem.I tried a variety of models to no avail. How could I get around this?

Is your sldprt file a multi-body part?  I have not tried this, but I would not be surprised if the conversion to stl has a problem with either a) multi-body parts, or b) overlapping bodies.

If you have saved an assy as a part you will have multi-bodies in that part. Use the Join tool to create one single body, and then try converting that to STL. If you still have a problem, you may have to convert the joined part to a parasolid, and then convert that to STL.

THX I will try that

Sorry, that should have been "Use the Combine tool to create one single body" not the Join tool.
